A new and unusual Foundation is born in Perugia, unique in its kind in Umbria, and among the few in Italy. The Foundation bears the name of its founder, Maestro Daniele Bernardini, who strongly desired it for reasons that he himself tells us: "We must support culture and beauty through targeted and lasting actions over time, encouraging young people to pursue their dreams with sweat and sacrifice but also with great hope." Over the years, Maestro Bernardini has collected musical instruments from the 18th to the 20th century, along with scores, manuscripts, and contemporary codices. Now, with great openness and generosity, he has donated part of his collection to the Foundation that carries his name, so that it may be preserved for the future. The collection, now the heritage of the Foundation, consists of over forty instruments, including bowed string instruments, plucked string instruments, pianos, and a multitude of flutes, as well as volumes of teaching theory, scores, and encyclopedias. The Foundation will take care of the preservation of this important instrumental heritage, as well as its enrichment and the enhancement of artistic and cultural heritage in general, and the potential of artists in need. Among its purposes are also the organization and management of cultural, artistic, or recreational activities of social interest, including editorial activities, promotion, and dissemination of culture and volunteerism; organization and management of tourist activities of social, cultural, or religious interest. Among its objectives is also to create events, competitions, establish and promote specialization courses and refresher courses for young artists. The collection, which undoubtedly enriches not only the cultural landscape of the City and the Region but of the entire national territory, now needs an adequate venue to be enjoyed by the public. The Founder hopes that it can remain in Perugia or at least in Umbria as a local heritage, although he has received offers from outside the region. The Foundation, constituted by Notarial Deed on August 27, 2021, Registry No. 569 Collection No. 361. President Daniele Bernardini, other members of the Board of Directors: Daniele Gambacorta, Silvio Improta, and Franco Mezzanotte. As its first public act, it donated to the city of Perugia a unique event held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Basilica of San Pietro in Perugia, the Concert "Dolcissimo Sospiro" by the Ensemble Ricercar Consort, directed by Philippe Pierlot (Viola da Gamba and direction) and Céline Scheen (Soprano).
